The state government, therefore, announced on Wednesday, August 12, that it had pulled out from the scheme. This decision of the state was disclosed by a special adviser to Governor Nyesom Wike on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) matters, Erastus Awortu, in a letter to the minister of state for labour and employment, Festus Keyamo. Awortu accused the chairman of the selection committee, Innocent Barikor from the APC, of politicising the process and flouting the federal government’s initial guidelines for recruitment.

Part of the letter to Keyamo from the state government read: “From the initial guidelines issued from your office at the commencement of the programme, it was clearly stated how the slots are to be distributed after the deductions for political office holders are done, as copied below. “After these deductions, in making up the remaining 1,000 numbers from each local government area, every single person in the 20-member list would be allotted a number of skits because of the interest that person represents…

He’s widely considered the world’s finest tennis player with a string of Grand Slam titles under his belt.

But Roger Federer was like any other father as he doted on his brood on Saturday, pushing his youngest son in a stroller as he took his two sets of twins out in Brisbane.

The 34-year-old cut a low-key figure as he enjoyed a stroll with his children, keeping his face hidden beneath some sunglasses and a hat.

His six-year-old twin daughters, Charlene and Myla, held on to each of their brother’s strollers.

The family was joined by a female companion who pushed along the other boy’s pram.

It is not known whether Mirka, the children’s mother and Roger’s wife of six years, was in the city at the time

Roger is preparing to take part in the Brisbane International, with the former Wimbledon champion among players to participate in the Men’s Singles category.

On Sunday he will be among stars to entertain children at the tournament’s kids’ day.

Federer and his wife welcomed their youngest sons, Lenny and Leo, in 2014. At the time the World Number Three took to Twitter to share the happy news.

‘Mirka and I are so incredibly happy to share that Leo and Lenny were born this evening!’ he said, adding the hashtags ‘twins again’ and ‘miracle’.

The ravishing Russian, Lana had strong words of praise for ‘The Man’ Becky Lynch during a recent interview with TalkSport.

During the interview, Lana discussed how the former WWE Raw Women’s Champion moved her to tears and how she helped Lana during their time together in the WWE.

She told the outlet: “Becky has helped me a lot. That would be someone that probably people don’t know about because of characters, storylines etc. But man, I have learned so much from Becky! I think partly, before The Man started, at live events she would be in the match and taking heat and I would be learning from her. She was so tough on me. But man, if she wasn’t tough, I wouldn’t be where I am right now. She was so tough [laughs] she would always be like ‘toughen up!’ and this and that.

Lana continued: “And now, I get texts from her saying ‘I’m so proud of you.’ She texts me every single week. I’m so thankful for that because when this whole pandemic started, I remember being so discouraged and I remember her telling me ‘you’re so strong. You’re such a strong woman. Now you’ve got to be who you are. Keep on carrying this, keep working hard, harder than anyone else so we can bring the people back that we love so much’ – and I remember those words [begins to cry].

Lana concluded: “I’m sorry. I just remember when she was like ‘you’ve got to be the strong woman that you are’ – those words helped me not to give up, you know? Hearing Becky say that about me. Every single day I start my morning like ‘I’m strong, I’m resilient I’m durable – I’m going to keep going.’ I just think it’s so important the words that we use to people and that’s such a great example of Becky giving me hope. Her texts and guidance every single week is just… I’m so thankful.

Coach’s bombshell theory on Serena Williams retirement

Serena Williams

Serena Williams is not done with tennis and won’t retire from the sport until she wins another grand slam, according to her coach.

Speculation has swirled over the last week that this year’s Australian Open campaign was Williams’ last, and that her retirement from the sport was imminent.

Serena waved a long and emotional goodbye to fans at Melbourne Park after being eliminated by eventual champion Naomi Osaka in the semi-finals, before leaving her press conference in tears a short time later.

Many tennis fans and experts took it as a sign that the 39-year-old was on the verge of announcing her retirement from the sport, something the American insisted she wouldn’t reveal even if she was.

Commentator Sam Smith said she’d never seen Williams break down like she did in her press conference and insisted that “she won’t be back” to Melbourne Park.

However, the 23-time grand slam champion’s coach Patrick Mouratoglou has offered Aussie tennis fans a glimmer of hope that the popular champion will return.

Mouratoglou – who has coached Williams since 2012 – says he can’t see the 39-year-old calling time on her career until she wins that elusive 24th major title to equal Margaret Court’s all-time record.

“I don’t think she will stop until she at least wins a grand slam, because she came back to win Grand Slams,” Mouratoglou told People, referring to the American’s comeback after giving birth to daughter Alexis in 2017.

“She doesn’t quit,” he added.

Serena’s coach says he understands why the American – who turns 40 later this year – would be loathe to contemplate, let alone discuss retirement from a sport she has dedicated her whole life to.

‘Dedicated all her life to tennis’
“I don’t think she planned [retirement] for this certain moment. She’s dedicated all her life to tennis since she was a kid,” Mouratoglou says.

“So the day she will retire, she will feel like she’s giving an end to 40 years of a life.”

“It’s something that is difficult to measure for people.

“That’s why it’s very sensitive. That’s why it’s very emotional for her. I completely get it.”

The American’s coach says her “exceptional” mentality and impossibly high standards fill him with every confidence that Williams can claim that record-equalling grand slam title, before she hangs up the racquet.

“I have to believe it and she has to believe it, too. If she [doesn’t], she would stop.

“After all she’s achieved in her career, at her age, having a baby for the first time, having a family — it was an incredible effort to come back to tennis,” the coach tells PEOPLE.

“Unbelievable effort. Mental effort, physical effort, so many hours to get back in shape. She would never even start that if she didn’t think she was able to win a grand slam.

“That’s how Serena is really exceptional. She puts the standards so high for herself, and she finds a way to match those standards, whatever she does.”
