Federer hails Nadal: After the 10th, the 11th, I was already thinking ‘This can’t be

Former world tennis No.1 Roger Federer was full of praise for Rafael Nadal‘s achievements after the latter won the Roland Garros trophy in France once again.

The Spaniard beat Norwegian Casper Ruud in the French Open final to win a record 14th Ronald Garros title in his career.

It’s unbelievable what Rafa has achieved, Federer told Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger.

Pete Sampras‘ record, which I beat, was 14 Grand Slam titles, and he already has 22.

Now, Rafa has won Roland Garros 14 times. It’s unbelievable. I’m very happy that he did it. I take my hat off to him.

After the tenth, the eleventh… I was already thinking: ‘This can’t be it’. But he keeps raising the bar. He’s gigantic.

Federer is planning to team up with Nadal at the Laver Cup in London after doing so for the first time in the doubles at the inaugural edition of the tournament in Prague back in 2017.

Federer’s comeback

The Swiss plans to return to competition next year. He has not played a match since he was eliminated in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in 2021 by Hubert.
