Although Roger Federer is away from the ATP tour for the last four months (after Wimbledon), he’s all over the headlines. In a recent interview, the Swiss Maestro opened up about his relationship with Mirka Federer and attracted media’s attention. The 20x Grand Slam champion also discussed how he manages the workload and quality time with his kids.

When on the ATP tour, it is obvious that Federer travels across the world. Yet, the father in King Roger has always ensured his four kids feel at home wherever they go with him.

Roger Federer opens up about his children
For the last four months, Roger Federer has been rehabilitating from his knee injury. The Swiss suffered a major knee ailment at Wimbledon 2021 and ever since, he has withdrawn from the remainder of the season. However, Federer feels he’s in a ‘happy place’ and hopes to return back on the tour in 2022.

In the latest interview, Roger Federer talked about his connection with his wife Mirka and that with children. Federer confessed that he has always tried to maintain the right balance between personal and professional life.

The 40-years old quoted, ” I’ve never subordinated everything to tennis. The children notice that too for a long time they had absolutely no idea how I was classified. At some point, they found out from their friends that their dad was once number one in the world. They were pretty amazed. We always tried to shield the children as much as possible. We never made my success a major topic.” Those are some genuine parenting goals right there.

He further added, ” The children never really noticed that I was also here to play tennis. They had the feeling that we were just for fun in New York. It is of course true that the four of them do not have a normal childhood.”

In the same interview, Federer went on to praise his wife Mirka. The Swiss appreciated the sacrifices and efforts from his wife and admitted that his success would not have been feasible without her.

Fed believes Mirka has always supported and stood like a rock in his life. In his words, “all of this [having Mirka from a young age] gave me security and stability…”

Unbelievable: Maria Sharapova says she got mobbed in the Olympic village cafeteria

Published

Many players prefer not to stay at the Olympic village as other athletes tend to get a little star struck at coming face to face with high profile superstars. Maria Sharapova got a taste of this herself when she went into the cafeteria at the Olympic village.

Sharapova is the highest earning female athlete in the world and a global superstar. “I’m usually pretty naïve about like people’s knowledge of me, my career, what I’ve achieved,” Sharapova told the press after her first round win on Sunday in London.

“I try to be pretty humble about it, but the biggest mistake I’ve made in a long time was entering the cafeteria. I didn’t walk out eating any food. I barely got an orange juice. It was quite funny. Actually, I didn’t sign any autographs, it was just pictures. I felt like a little statue.”

Tyson Fury left two fans “star struck” after partying with them for eight hours after they asked the heavyweight champion for a selfie.

The Gypsy King is still celebrating his knockout victory over Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas earlier this month, which saw him retain his WBC title.

Stella, 21 and Kailah, 24, had asked Fury for a picture before knocking back shots with the champ in a bar.

According to the Sun, Stella and Kailah were “starstruck” when meeting the 33-year-old fighter and called him a “perfect gentleman”.

A source told the paper: “Stella and Kailah are normal hard-working girls who went out for a midweek drink and ended up doing shots and dancing with one of the world’s most famous sporting stars.

Tyson Fury allegedly partied with two fans back at their flat
“They felt very lucky to be out with him and he was very complimentary to them and they loved his fun-loving personality.

“He’s a beast of a boxer, but out of the ring he’s a gentle, fun-loving guy.”

The pair bumped into Fury, along with boxing pal Andy Lee whilst out in Manchester on Wednesday afternoon.

Outside, they asked Fury for a selfie, which Stella subsequently placed on her personal Facebook page.

Kailah then shared the image with the caption: “Trust me to have no make-up on the day I meet Tyson Fury.”

After exchanging numbers, Lee made contact with the girls asking them to join them for something to eat.

Stella recalled: “I’m just having a drink in a bar. I’m not looking my best right now to be joining for dinner as I’m in my comfies. I’m heading home but I can get ready.”

The quartet then met back up to drink in Miami Ice Bar, dancing and drinking before the four went to Stella and Kailah’s flat to continue the party.

The report added that Tyson called it a night at around 11.30pm, returning home to wife Paris and their six children.

Fury left the party before midnight to return home to wife Paris
“They had a few cocktails together and were asking Tyson about his boxing career and he really enjoyed being in the company of some down-to-earth girls,” the source continued.

“He might be heavyweight champion, but he’s a man of the people and likes to live as normal a life as possible. They thought Tyson was very charming and he was very complimentary to them.”

Fury has been revelling in his trilogy sealing victory over Wilder, partying in Vegas before making an heroic return to the UK.

His night out in Manchester came hours after he enjoyed a game of bingo in his home town of Morecambe along with A League of their Own stars Andrew Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp.

Novak Djokovic: ‘As much as it hurts me personally…’

Published

on

What a way to close the year for Daniil Medvedev. The world number two won his first Grand Slam title a couple of months ago in New York and is now very close to lifting the “Salad Bowl” in Madrid. On his tie against Germany, where he beat Jan-Lennard Struff, he stated: “It’s never easy, it’s Davis Cup.

Although without a doubt, if you look at the scoreboard, there have been only two individual matches, and I have not faced a break ball until the last game of the match. But it is never easy. I have seen Andrey (Rublev) on television, and he has played with great confidence.

In my game, until 4-4 in the first set, my rival was playing at a high level, serving incredible. Then he had a worse game with fewer firsts and more errors and I was able to break his serve. It was the key to the game. In less than six hours we have taken out both games, with freshness for the final and a lot of confidence, “he added in statements taken up by “Break Point.”

Now in the title series, Russia will face dangerous Croatia. Despite the difficulty that their rival could mean, they start as clear favorites. “It would have been special to play Novak Djokovic in the final. He always is.

But this is the Davis Cup. He won his match, but he’s not in the final. Borna Gojo did an amazing job from what I could tell. Huge stuffy in this competition. Since he had won his match, it was known that even if Novak won it would not be easy against the best doubles pair in the world.”

Nole doesn’t have any regrets in life
When quizzed on whether he felt any regrets about continuing to play after the US Open, Novak Djokovic answered in the negative. He always gives his best when playing for Serbia, as it holds special meaning to him and his teammates as well.

The Davis Cup format is cruel according to him, as one singles win isn’t enough and it’s important to win every match and set as it all counts. “Season finished today, so I don’t regret any tournament that I played after the date that you mentioned,” he said.

“I give my best, as I always do, for national team. There is extra meaning and importance for me, for everybody involved. Unfortunately wasn’t to be this time,” he rued. “One singles win is not enough. This kind of competition is cruel in a way because it just requires you to win every single match that you play or every single set because it counts.

I don’t regret anything in life,” he said. “I try to draw lessons from especially the tough moments like this. As much as it hurts me personally and us as a team, these are usually the biggest opportunities to get stronger, to grow, and develop to be even a better person and a player.”
