Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic Engage in Funny Banter After Thrilling Paris Masters 2021 Finals

Despite pushing each other to produce top-notch tennis whenever they meet on-tour, Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev share utmost respect for each off the court. During the trophy presentation at the US Open, the Russian openly admitted that Djokovic is the greatest men’s player of all time, according to him.

Even the Serbian star always admired Medvedev for constantly pushing his boundaries with respect to tactics. At the Rolex Paris Masters final, Djokovic successfully implemented the serve-and-volley, a tactic that was implemented by players like Rafael Nadal previously against the Russian.

Daniil Medvedev writes a funny caption as he congratulates Novak Djokovic on winning Rolex Paris Masters 2021
Talking about Medvedev, post Paris victory, Djokovic was glad for the ‘budding’ rivalry between the both of them and appreciated the fact that Medvedev’s game forces him to play differently.

Now, the world no.2 took to Instagram to congratulate Djokovic on winning his 37th Masters 1000 title and wrote, “I think we don’t need to practice together anymore”.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion was quick to respond as he posed a question to Medvedev, “That means you are canceling the practice in Torino on Thursday?”.

Even before the start of Paris Masters, both the players got together Mouratoglou Tennis Academy for a practice session. The duo faced each other in three important finals this year and it was Djokovic who won two crucial contests out of them.

While Djokovic was going for the Calendar Slam at the US Open, Medvedev produced flawless tennis and asked more questions of the Serb and forced errors out of him.

Djokovic found a tactic to steer through Daniil Medvedev at Paris
Despite the fans at Arthur Ashe stadium vocally supporting Djokovic, he couldn’t figure out a way past Medvedev, who stood like an unbreakable wall between the Serb and his chances of making history.

However, the championship match at Rolex Paris Masters was proof enough that the world no.1 always figures out a way to come out of trouble when pushed into a corner.

Not that he didn’t use it before, but Djokovic’s frequent appearances at the net put off Medvedev as he had to cover a lot of ground to reach the ball due to his deep return stance

Out of the ten instances where the duo have faced each other on the ATP tour, Novak Djokovic has now won six while the Russian took the remaining four. Along with a budding intense rivalry on cards for the future, both Medvedev and Djokovic are well in line to maintain a strong friendship off the court.

One of the tennis players to have been unfortunately rattled by injuries very early in her career is Canada’s Bianca Andreescu. After a roaring start to her career that witnessed her destroying some top-notch opponents, including Serena Williams at the 2019 US Open, the Canadian’s career graph was expected to shoot up. However, that never really happened due to various niggling injuries.

As tennis began after a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Andreescu decided to sit out of later stages of the 2020 season. Even before the pandemic, the Canadian missed the initial months on tour last year due to a knee injury.

Bianca Andreescu announces shock decision ahead of Australian tennis summer

Now, after an uneventful 2021 season, Andreescu announced on Twitter that she won’t be participating in the Australian tennis summer that’s scheduled to begin next January.

“I want to give myself extra time to re-set, recover, and grow from this and continue to inspire by doing charity work, giving back and working on myself. I will therefore not start my season in Australia this (next) year, but will take some additional time to reflect, train, and be ready for the upcoming 2022 tennis season.”

This news might come off as a shock to fans who were expecting Andreescu to bounce back stronger on the WTA tour in Australia.

But, it’s important to note that the youngster faced a lot of challenges physically over the past couple of years and even during this season, she appeared to be bothered by one injury or the other on-court.

Andreescu had a difficult 2021 WTA season

Looking back at Andreescu’s performances this year on the WTA tour, she reached the finals at the Miami Open, where she was forced to retire mid-way during the final against Ashleigh Barty.

Since Miami, the Canadian rising star failed to live up to the expectations on clay and grass but managed to put up a decent run at the US Open by reaching the fourth round. Andreescu lost to Maria Sakkari in the pre-quarters in a three-set thriller.

Bianca Andreescu’s last tournament this year was Indian Wells, where she lost in the pre-quarters to Anett Kontaveit in straight sets.

Prince William reveals ‘cringing’ moment with Taylor Swift

The Duke of Cambridge will take listeners on a walk down memory lane when he joins forces with Apple Fitness+ for a special festive episode of its “Time To Walk” audio series.

William, 39, is hoping to encourage people to take a break and go for a walk for their mental wellbeing over the Christmas period. CNN understands the duke is a fan of the series and approached Apple about the project.

William opens the episode contemplating his father’s love of walking and that while growing up, Charles “used to try and force Harry and I out of the house the whole time” adding that “we weren’t really having any of it.”
“But now, as you get older, you appreciate it a lot more and you see it for what it is,” William says.
The royal is the latest star to record a walk-and-talk for the series, available on Apple Watch with a Fitness+ subscription.
Each episode, which ranges between 25 and 40 minutes in length, is designed to be an immersive experience. Featured guests take a stroll in a meaningful location and reflect on life’s lessons while sharing memories and experiences through stories, photos and songs.

William’s walk — which he recorded back in the spring — takes him across his family’s sprawling 20,000-acre Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, eastern England. Starting at Sandringham House, he takes in the sights and sounds of “the great British countryside, as we like to call it” while heading towards St. Mary Magdalene Church, where the royals are due to attend Christmas Day church service later this month. He ends the journey standing outside Anmer Hall, the home he shares with wife, Catherine, and their children.
Reflecting on his family’s annual Christmas Day pilgrimage, William talks of his “strong memories” of his grandfather plowing ahead while “there’d be us at the back with little legs trying to keep up.”
During the episode, the prince discusses the importance of keeping mentally fit and recalls one moment nearly a decade ago that left him sweating at a black tie event.
Musing that he “can’t believe I’m actually tell this story,” he talks about a 2013 fundraising gala at Kensington Palace that US singers Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift attended, “which nearly knocked me off my feet.”

William says there’s always “a lot of handshaking to do those nights” where he tries to “be charming and interactive.” He then goes to watch the performance thinking his main tasks of the evening — primarily to welcome guests — are over and he can relax a little.
“I’m sat next to Taylor Swift. She’s on my left. And after Jon does his first song, there’s a pause, and she turns to me. She puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye, and says, ‘Come on, William. Let’s go and sing,'” he remembers.
“To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I’m cringing at what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave in. But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, ‘Come with me…’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you.'”

William continues his anecdote describing walking towards the stage “in a trance” and trying to desperately remember the lyrics to “Livin’ On a Prayer.”

“Beneath my black tie, there was a lot of sweating going on. I felt like a swan, where I was trying to keep myself composed on the outside, but inside, the little legs are paddling fast,” the royal says, adding that while he’s very comfortable delivering speeches, he has less experience singing live.

“At times, when you’re taken out of your comfort zone, you’ve got to roll with it,” he adds.
During the episode, the duke also reveals the impact his time as an air ambulance pilot had on his mental health. He details one experience helping a young boy hit by a car.
William says he “went home that night pretty upset but not noticeably” and was conscious that “something had changed… a real tension inside of me.” He describes compartmentalizing his feelings and returning to work but “it really hit me weeks later.”

“My personal life and everything was absolutely fine. I was happy at home and happy at work, but I kept looking at myself, going, ‘Why am I feeling like this? Why do I feel so sad?’ And I started to realize that, actually, you’re taking home people’s trauma, people’s sadness, and it’s affecting you
